Pinoso is a typical Spanish village of around 11,000 inhabitants and is known for its wine production, marble industry, cozy restaurants and friendly residents.

In Pinoso you can find all the facilities you want, such as pharmacies, general practitioner post, veterinary clinic, supermarkets, Saturday market, English restaurants, Spanish cuisine and of course the Dönner kabab or the 10 dozens of tapas bars.

How the tapas originated ":

The origin of 'tapa' is controversial, but it is certain that the word 'tapa' (plural 'tapas') is derived from the Spanish verb 'tapar', which means to cover or cover. 'Tapa' can therefore be literally translated as 'lid'. Based on this meaning, it is often assumed that tapas originated from the habit of literally covering a drink with a piece of bread and/or a slice of ham, to prevent, for example, flies from getting into the glass.

The origins can be traced back to the 1500s and Emperor Charles V. Under his reign, a horse and rider departed every hour from the south of Spain to the Southern Netherlands where Margaret of Parma was his representative. Along the way, the riders often stopped in inns for a drink. It was soon established that a lot of horsemen were downright drunk on their horses, so Emperor Charles ordered that all the inns in Spain had to offer food at the drink. This prevented the riders from drinking only wine or alcohol and not taking any food. Hence the use (mainly in Spain) to serve small snacks, tapas, with drinks.
